WE NOTICED CONVERSATIONS

weren’t being had, people weren’t being seen...

... and creativity could be pushed further.  Out of that voided space came the need to explicitly and positively acknowledge the influence of black culture on creative expression, the antidote Black Yoke. More than a clothing brand, Black Yoke’s mission is to encourage the transformation of visual conversation into verbal ones. “Black” the first color of creative expression, a symbol of the pain, strength, and inner power of persons ignored is fused with “Yoke”,  to acknowledge that despite the negative images of black culture with the intent to separate, “it” is the core/root of us all, benefiting and connecting us, allowing us to push boundaries in a positive way. By collaborating with likeminded creatives, Black Yoke is, and will continue to be the platform for all creatives and  those who appreciate them, to encourage a mentality, a movement unafraid to respect our differences In a world that acknowledges only the negative. By initiating  creative conversations that recognize and support  all mediums of expression, no matter what you look like, or where you come from, we our honoring our inner “yoke” that connects us all.
